This is my most ambitious piece of pure drone music. It features multiple instances of La Monte Young’s Compositions 1960 #7 constructed from sine waves for an initial duration of 4′33″ and stretched to two, four and eight times its original length. These run against one another for the entire 72 minute duration over the sounds of human respiration at a rate of one breath per 2.157 seconds and heart sounds at about 70 bpm. The noise floor in this recording is constructed from approximations of green noise and the (nearly inaudible) Schumann resonances.
